Financial infrastructure – Projects and tasks
CSD system replacement in Convergence program (Euronext)
As Product Owner for client connectivity, I was responsible for analysing whether the harmonised solution designed for the Convergence program sufficiently catered to the business needs of Danish clients. I mapped all legacy proprietary message functionality and how it would be supported in the new setup, and presented the overall solution to the Danish clients (ISO, WebGUI, Data). Through these discussions, several gaps were identified, including the need for A2A instructions for issuance and account management, liquidity messages, and real‑time securities reference data.
Proof of Concept for a Settlement Message Converter (Euronext)
I led an initiative to evaluate whether a converter could translate proprietary legacy settlement messages into ISO 20022/15022 format on the new common CSD platform. The idea was to ease the transition for the Danish market and support client commitment to the project plan. We demonstrated that maintaining the legacy format was technically possible, although challenging for the CSD, and that some adjustments on the client side would still be required. Ultimately, the Danish market decided not to pursue the converter approach.
Utilizing the Euronext Network for post-trade also (Euronext)
In the Convergence programme, I coordinated the work on how the Euronext Network — already used for trading and clearing — could be leveraged to replace local networks for post‑trade activities across all Euronext CSDs. This included analysing how the network could meet important security standards and the IOSCO principles, as well as assessing the commercial impact on clients, particularly how pricing could affect their connectivity setup.
RTGS system replacement (Nationalbanken)
In the project for Kronos2 and T2S DKK, I was responsible for the settlement of securities and retail payments, including instant payments. I am particularly proud of the new setup for instant payments, where we changed the model from transferring all bank liquidity in the central bank to sub‑accounts during the night to a 24/7 setup with an automatic liquidity rule, credit based, to allocate the necessary liquidity when needed. I believe that the simplifications introduced in this project greatly eased the transition in the latest RTGS migration to Target2.
Data and reporting – Projects and tasks
Standardizing Regulatory Reporting (Euronext)
I was a main driver of harmonizing regulatory reporting in Euronext Securities Copenhagen, aligning the reporting to Nationalbanken using a new standard securities reference data product. The new reference data product was designed according to international standards and is similar to the standards used by institutions such as the ECB in their databases for statistical purposes. At the same time, the product could be commercialised and offered as a general data product. Because the legacy reporting landscape was extensive and fragmented, adopting the standard product significantly reduced both the reporting scope and the associated development costs.
Omnibus transition project (Nationalbanken, Financial Statistics)
Because of the transition to omnibus in Denmark, it was necessary to launch a project to secure access to investor‑by‑investor holder information for retail investors and companies not directly reporting to Nationalbanken. I was involved in identifying this issue, defining requirements for the new report, mapping the overall data flow in our statistics setup, and detailing the solution together with our IT development team.
Monthly production of statistics (Nationalbanken, Financial Statistics)
Each month, financial statistics on securities are published. This process involves both technical troubleshooting and the analytical ability to interpret developments in the data for example, assessing whether a DKK 200 billion increase in convertibles reflects a reporting error or a genuine market movement.
Danish mortgage bonds – Projects and tasks
Launching new table for Danish mortgage bonds (Nationalbanken, Financial Statistics)
I was responsible for designing and publishing a new data table for Danish mortgage bonds. The table was designed in dialogue with internal and external users of financial statistics to maximise the utilisation of the data. It included investor and issuer information as well as key points of reference data. The main challenge was to identify the right level of information and granularity. This work resulted in the mortgage bond table in Financial Statistics, DNVPDKR2 in Statbank.
Data quality project – Correct timing on bonds (Nationalbanken, Financial Statistics)
I led a project aimed at improving the timing of Danish bond data derived from capital flows, including corporate actions, mortgage bond auctions, and other market events. To ensure consistent reporting, we developed a framework that defined trade dates even for highly technical transactions such as redemptions. This work also triggered an IT development project with unsettled transactions used to correct the data in the system.
Communication and publications (Nationalbanken, Financial Statistics)
I produced short publications highlighting developments in securities markets and related areas, aimed at generating media interest in our statistics. This involved a full editorial process, from pitching ideas to crafting clear narratives supported by relevant figures and data insights.
